Will write for charity Well, this was unusual... I was asked to participate in an auction in which my rabid loyal readers would bid in an auction for a bit of Kokopelli fanfic. Particulars are here http://supportstacie.net/?page_id=221 So, what do you readers think of this? |

Know your stuff - a kitchen warning
We had an interesting mishap the other day. Whilst cooking dinner for another family, my wife took a pyrex pan from the oven and placed it on the burner of the stove. Next, that burner was mistakenly turned on (the controls of the stove desperately need a better layout). Result? The pyrex pan exploded - sending hundreds (if not thousands) of shards of glass all over the kitchen. The Pyrex of old was borosilicate glass -which resists expansion when heated. Since the early 1990's, however, stuff sold in the USA under the Pyrex label is plain old tempered glass. Tempered glass expands three times as much as Pyrex when heated - hence it's more susceptable to breaking due to thermal shock (although tempered glass is actually more shatter resistant than Pyrex). The Pyrex glassware made for laboratories (test tubes and flasks and the like) is still made of borosilicate. My lovely wife was rather rattled by this. I cleaned up the kitchen, and the next day, I purchased some Marinex glassware from Amazon, which is still made of borosilicate glass. Moral of the story - know your stuff, don't leave stuff on the burner, and know where your broom and dustpan is stored. |

Now What? Version 2 There were some niggling bits about the first draft that I didn't care for, so before I send it to my beta, I thought I'd post it here again. |

Now What? (a Deathly Hallows ficlet) Waking up in a bed, a real bed, after a year of cold, hunger and too short, rickety camp beds and sleeping bags strewn over stones and tree roots was disorienting. |

The Unexpected Horcrux - Chapter the Third
I've not forgotten the challenges I requested recently - I have the beginnings of a Jasmine does St Lucia day story, and another missing moment from HP-HBP, Harry and Luna after the Christmastime Slug Party. Here's the beginning of the last bit of Fan-fic that I've committed to finish - the third chapter. |

SHORTS! Call for drabbles! SHORTS!
Okay, now that you're awake. Life has been interesting at Casa de Cornell of late - but I don't want to write about that. So, what do you want me to write? |
